Royal Spa

A world of pampering

Arriving into the Royal Spa, one is enveloped in a sense of absolute calm, conveyed by the uncluttered, spacious design and ever-present water features. Waterfalls running over natural stone descend on two sides of the central relaxation area, while crushed crystal encased in glass walls is reminiscent of the salt water environment of Vale do Lobo. The ultimate in indulgence, the spa houses wet and dry treatment rooms, saunas, a hammam, steam room and an indoor/ outdoor pool. An extensive range of treatments is offered, in particular using local natural oils such as orange, lemon, eucalyptus and lavender, as well as mud and salt therapies.

Therapists specialised in different branches of spa medicine have their own treatments rooms, customised for the application of their particular therapies. Ten serene indoor rooms are fully equipped for different types of therapy, while outside, under the umbrella pines of Parque do Golfe, two wooden cabins are set in a quiet Oriental-style garden featuring a white pebble waterfall and a lily pond. The hammam, with a lower temperature and higher humidity, is a gentler option for optimum detoxification of the body. In the vichy shower, gentle water jets provide the ultimate natural back massage. A calendarium area can be used to cool down between steam and sauna sessions, complete with a fountain and cold water foot baths to stimulate the circulation. A swimming pool and decked area, with a retractable glass roof making it outdoor in Summer and indoor in Winter, is the finishing touch to this fully equipped wellness complex.

Guests are encouraged to use the facilities - which include saunas, a Turkish bath and hammam - as part of their Royal Spa experience. Steam rooms, infused with local essential oils such as eucalyptus, are especially good for sinus problems and weak lungs, prone to ailments such as bronchitis. Treatments.

Fitness Center

One of the most Modern Gyms in the Algarve

Beside the Royal Spa is the state of the Vale do Lobo Fitness Centre, one of the most modern gyms in the Algarve, fitted out with the best and most up-to-date Technogym equipment and overlooking the beautiful gardens of Parque do Golfe.

Bikes, stairmasters, rowing machines and treadmills are included in the aerobic equipment - all new models, low impact, better for the joints. All the usual weights machines are available, as well as equipment new to the market such as a 'radiant' - a new type of complete body workout machine, the first to arrive in the Algarve - and a 'Power Plate' - a vibrating plate which provides resistance training by evenly distributing vibrations throughout the body, and works out all parts of the body very effectively.

A weekly schedule of exercise classes such as pilates, spinning and fit-ball take place – timings are available direct from the Fitness Centre. Private, tailored fitness sessions are also available, as described in the Royal Spa treatment list. The Fitness Centre also offers first aid and CPR training on request.

Tennis Academy

Tennis Capital of the Algarve

Since the Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy was first established in 1980 it has grown into one of the finest centres in Europe with first class facilities and coaching programmes tailored to suit all ages and levels of players. The Academy, now an annual venue for the prestigious ATP Seniors World Tour, is run by the former top Portuguese player Pedro Frazão who was named Professional of the Year by the coaches association in 1999. He heads a team of nine professional coaches.

25 Different Sports Available

In total, more than 25 different sports are available at Vale do Lobo, including a variety of water sports which take place along the resort's two kilometres of golden beach such as sailing, wind-surfing, water-skiing and jet skiing. As well as two championship golf courses and Portugal's largest tennis facility, Vale do Lobo offers much for the sports fan including two gyms, mini-golf, volleyball, pilates, aerobics and dedicated sports fields for football, cricket, hockey and more.

Lawn Bowling Club - The Vale do Lobo Lawn Bowling Club is located in the tranquil Zone Nutopia. Its pristine bowling green, developed in 2005 by Vale do Lobo's green-keeping experts, offers a pleasant and complementary alternative to the golf courses and tennis courts - perfect for a morning or afternoon of enjoyment and relaxation.

Vale do Lobo Shopping, conveniently located at the central Parque do Golfe complex, is home to a range of boutiques, a beauty centre, newsagent and bank. A walk through the airy, modern galleria will inspire, with sparkling designer jewellery at Select Designs, top of the range cosmetics at Farmarosa, golf clothing and equipment at Nevada Bob's and home décor at Vale do Lobo Interior Designs. Then, at the end of a hard morning's shopping, why not pop into the Beauty Centre for a chic manicure or a stylish new hairstyle? A wander around the Art Gallery and a coffee at Café Crème tops off the experience. For everyday shopping needs, a well-stocked supermarket is located at the entrance to the resort.
