LOCATION
The Quinta da Fé is located 3 km from Vidigueira, in the Province of Baixo Alentejo, known as one of the least polluted of Europe.

Directions from Lisbon: 

  1. Leave the airport direction center.
  2. In the first roundabout, direction “Norte, A1, Ponte Vasco da Gama (north, Vasco da Gama bridge)
  3. Follow the direction “ Ponte Vasco da Gama” and go over the bridge.
  4. The bridge is 16 km long.
  5. Direction Évora always (more or less 110 km)
  6. Take the first exit from motorway indicating Évora.
  7. You will have more or less 10 km national road and then reach several roundabouts. Follow always direction Beja or IP2.
  8. After approx. 54 km, you will find several exits on your right indicating Vidigueira.
  9. Don’t take the first one.
  10. Take the 2nd one indicating Vidigueira/ Moura
  11. At the crossing, left, direction Moura.
  12. Under the tunnel
  13. Immediately after the tunnel, take a left direction Alcaria/Marmelar
  14. 800 meters and turn left on to a small track with 2 mail boxes, one white, one black and an arrow with signs to Quinta da Fé.
  15. Follow indications

Directions from Faro:

  1. Leave the airport by the “Via do Infante”, direction Albufeira, Portimão.
  2. After approx. 40 km, take direction Lisbon by the motorway.
  3. On the motorway, follow direction Lisbon
  4. Way out in first exit - Castro Verde
  5. Follow the national road direction Castro Verde and Beja
  6. Arriving in Beja, follow directions to Évora
  7. After approx. 24 km, take the first exit ON YOUR RIGHT (NOT ON YOUR LEFT) indicating Vidigueira/Moura (not the one for Vidigueira).
  8. At the crossing, straight direction Alcaria/Marmelar.
  9. 800 m and turn left on to a small track where you find signs to Quinta da Fé and 2 mail boxes (white and black)
  10. Follow indications

    INFORMATION
Climate: Alentejo enjoys 275 days of sunshine per year. During the summer, the temperatures range between  20 and 35 ° C. Winter is mild with temperatures between 15°C and 19°C.
Local time: GMT (same as in the UK).
Currency: Euro
Documents: EU guests (Shengen agreement), identity card or passport (mandatory with photograph for children). From countries outside Schengen agreement, a passport is mandatory.
GSM: In Portugal you can normally be reached on your portable using roaming. Check with your operator for more  information.
Pets: Admitted under certain conditions.

    THE REGION
Located in the Baixo Alentejo province, known as one of the less polluted areas of Europe, the portuguese town of Vidigueira is famous for several reasons:
D. Vasco da Gama, in return for his services to the Kingdom of Portugal, was distinguished as Earl of Vidigueira, where he lived and died after his numerous travels. Its undulating land covered with olive-trees and vineyards is harmonious and relaxing. Its climate, pleasant, dry and warm makes it a quiet and peaceful destination. The regional gastronomy – “carne de porco à alentejana, “sopa de beldroegas”, “sopa de cação”, “conventuais” desserts, game and wild specialties – is well known.. The wines are considered amongst the best of Portugal.

In the surrounding area, historical or leisure interesting sites are countless :

  • The city of Évora, a Unesco heritage site, with its churches, chapels, handicraft shops and the famous Diana temple
  • The Roman remains of S. Cucufate, renowned for their frescos
  • The Mosteirinho Convent in Serpa
  • Monte das Aves, breeding and zoo center,  where all species of animals can be seen
  • Cortes de Cima, one of the more prestigious vineyards of Portugal
  • The ostrich breeding  of Júlio Fragoso in Serpa and of Baronigg in Alqueva
